Can't access a freshly deployed instance

Troubleshooting Self hosted Taiga

Hello, everyone. I am totally new to Taiga, not new to Docker.
Can’t make Taiga work for me. For the sake of experiment I am trying to deploy and access my instance with unmodified environment file (because I failed to make Taiga work with modified environment as well). I only added smtp creds. All other passwords are taiga and the TAIGA_DOMAIN is localhost:9000.

Once the stack is started (all containers start without errors) I try to open the instance in my browser by IP address of the docker host on port 9000.

I get a quick semi-transparent splash as on the screenshot with progress indicator on top and the ‘Discover Projects’ on the background and then in 1-2 seconds I get the green Taiga screen saying ‘Something happened and the Taiga has captured the error to be able to work on it.’

I guess this is not a proxy issue since I am accessing the instance on IP address and not by FQDN, however I am not sure. I don’t see anything suspicious in the log files.

Please give me some clues and insights.

Hi there!

Please have a look at the network tab in your browser’s developer tools. If the API calls are being made to localhost, change the domain to be the IP of the docker host instead of localhost.

Else, please share your configuration.

@Charlie Thank you for coming to help. I was swamped at work all week so I was impatiently waiting for weekend to test and check.

You were spot on - if you try Taiga without an FQDN and want to access it remotely the TAIGA_DOMAIN string in the environment should be the IP address of the docker host. I immediately saw the errors in the Developer Tools so fixing was fast - stop the stack, edit the .env file and clear browser cache.

Now I am stuck with FQDN setup - I use an external proxy and I think it will be better to open a new thread for this.
